About the Battle

Pizarro captured the Inca emperor Atahualpa by ambush, killing thousands with horses, steel, and gunfire. Atahualpa offered a room full of gold for his ransom. The Spanish took the gold and executed him anyway. Conquistadors had 168 men against an empire of millions. Disease had already weakened the Inca.
