About the Battle

Zulu warriors destroyed a British camp, killing over 1,300 soldiers. The worst defeat of a modern army by an indigenous force. The British had underestimated Zulu military capability. Rifles jammed in the heat of battle. The same day, a much smaller force held Rorkes Drift, winning 11 Victoria Crosses.
