About the Battle

Julius Caesar defeated his former ally Pompey the Great. Caesar was outnumbered 45,000 to 22,000 but concealed a reserve infantry line that surprised Pompeys cavalry. Pompey fled to Egypt where he was assassinated. Caesar followed and met Cleopatra. The battle effectively ended the Roman Republic.
