About the Battle
Wolfe scaled the cliffs at night to the Plains of Abraham above the city. Both commanders were mortally wounded: Wolfe lived just long enough to hear of victory, Montcalm died the next morning. A single volley and bayonet charge shattered the French line in fifteen minutes. The battle decided Canada would be British. French power in North America ended with the fall of Montreal the next year.
