About the Battle
Athenians defeated a larger Persian force through superior tactics and heavy infantry. Pheidippides allegedly ran 42 km to Athens to announce the victory, then died. This gave us the marathon race. Miltiades timed the attack perfectly, catching the Persians in disarray. The first Persian invasion of Greece was repelled.
