Napoleons final defeat, ending 23 years of war. The Duke of Wellington called it a near-run thing. Napoleon delayed the battle waiting for ground to dry, giving Prussia time to arrive. The French Imperial Guard retreated for the first time ever. Napoleon was exiled to St Helena, never to return.
